Awooogaaaa

29 May 2004

There are 309 thoughts in the random thoughts section (the ones that come up at the top of the page). There'd be more but I havent been working on the very much lately.

Jamie!

Happy birthday Jamie! I think… His party is today anyway…

Epic let down.

26 May 2004

Went to see Troy today. I used to be a wibbling fanboi for Greek mythology so I pretty much know the story of it, though not nearly to the level of all my classicist friends, so (I wasn't particularly put off by the changes from the original Greek works. Unfortunately that isn?t the problem, the problem is that it simply is not a very good film. Bring on shirtless Orlando though :-)

Revision fun.

Signing off.

14 May 2004

I've pretty much run out of random pictures so I'm not going to be blogging for a while, given the main chunk of my finals start on Wednesday and I need a much better return for my procrastination time than this gives.

I'll probably be back around the 25th of May :-)

Nice view.

I hate being tired all the time…

I have a Spanish Oral Assessment tomorrow :-( At least there's a nice view from the Library. (Mildly clickable.)

The word spreads… I thought the change of URL a little while back might have thrown people off, but apparantly not. Yay!

High flyers

11 May 2004

Just went to talk given by Kouji Ohbishi, founding President and current chairman of DoCoMo. Although most of it was just him bigging-himself up for taking the company from a loss-making subsidiary dumped by it's mother company for being crap to the largest mobile phone company in Japan. Still, it was curious to see his entourage of wizened VIP businessmen in their giant BMWs, and the fact everything had to go through a translator was interesting to watch.

Apparently the rich Chinese minority- a mere 40 million - pay stupidly inflated prices to get mobiles with the very latest gadgets :-) Who knew?

Troy

10 May 2004

I was greatly looking forward to Troy, an epic film with Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt, clearly a hottie fest! Recently I saw the trailer though and something odd seems to have happened to my taste in men, because Pitt looks like a pug-nosed mummies boy and Bloom looks like a foppish nonce. Not attractive in the least. Thankfully respite comes from an unexpected quarter; Eric Bana as Dark-and-Brooding(TM) Reluctant-Hero(TM) Hector… Well he's very nice indeed.

Here's a bunch of screenshots from the film so you can make your own mind up. Very slight spoilers ;-) (P.S. The Trojans lose.)

Unrelated pic:

Anything can be funny if you laugh hard enough.

It's that time of year again folks! Exam stress is hitting me now in a big stylee and teaming up with a lack of sleep and general isolation to make me feel every single shade of shite.

I'd give my right arm for a hand on my shoulder. Ironic huh?

I know I've managed to keep this blog free of improprietous self-indulgent angst for a long time now, but hell it's my blog (in all but actuality).

Remember kids, Love is just another four-letter word.

The Library is where it’s at.

Get down.

queue.jpg

Spent the first half of Saturday queueing for Final Fling tickets whilst reading the economist, eating strawberries and cream, drinking coke and playing cards.

The second half I spent drinking wine and then dancing at Boogie Nights/Reckless. Also found out that Chez went to primary school with someone I went to secondary school with (Jim Grant). Small world.
