Reserved Sentimental Intellectual Giver

25 Aug 2004

eXpressive: 3/10

Practical: 2/10

Physical: 0/10

Giver: 8/10

You are a RSIG--Reserved Sentimental Intellectual Giver. This makes you a People-Pleaser.

Oh, RSIG! You are the most complicated and dynamic of any type. You are brilliant, tender, romantic and a joy to be with. You're the favorite of many of your friends. It's just not a party until you get there. You are bursting with feeling and sentiment and insight but you very rarely express it—it's not how you want to present yourself to the world. Although you are always studying your non-romantic relationships—you turn a blind eye to romantic relationships.

You're highly adaptable, and you conform to your circumstances (maybe you're a youngest child?). You would probably be content with almost anyone, and almost anyone would be blissfully happy to have you. But just because you're content doesn't mean you're happy. Don't settle!

You'd rather ignore your problems than rock the boat by creating conflict. Please understand that in the long run ignoring conflict will make you unhappy and your partner exhausted. Try picking a fight just to see how it goes. You'll find out that solving problems is so satisfying for you that it makes conflict worth it.

Your sex life could be fantastic if you could stop worrying about everything so much (did I wash my hands? how do I look? what do I need to do tomorrow?). You need a sweet, expressive lover who makes you feel at ease and never puts pressure on you. If you feel secure with your partner outside the bedroom, it will make all the difference.

You cry at movies. A lot.

Interesting… Sounds like I edited it or something but I swear I didn't!

Apropo of nothing: Happy birthday Carly!

I Hate AOL

19 Aug 2004

AOL has to be the most unstable piece of software I've ever had the misfortune to use, and every other contender for that prize I've long since stopped using. It's ridiculous! There are even three copies of it on this machine and I'm not sure why or which one is actually running. Also some spywary type virus thing has made anything you put into either the AOL browser or IE direct to some fake search site, which is just great. Firefox is as yet unperturbed by these goings on, which is nice.

Happy birthday to Mikey!

Easy money.

Before I go to London (though I'm still not sure why exactly I'm going, it's mostly because my brother didn't want to) I'm scanning in 72 photos 150-year-old photos front and back; cropping them down and auto-contrasting them before sorting them according to a higgledy piggledy method that was already in place, and for some reason I'm charging a pound per side. Madness.

My dog rules.

Bubble-wrap

16 Aug 2004

There are countless situations in life where it is easier, if not mandatory, to tell a little white lie instead of the truth, or to let something go instead of confronting it. To create a connection, flatter, reassure or ignore. But there is a point, when too many relevant people think you think or feel something you don't, when these tolerances become lies. Lies about what you are thinking or feeling and what goes on in your head; lies about who you are. The sum of these pleasant social-lubricating and often self-empowering lies act as a very effective glass ceiling to how close you can be to anyone. Like bubble wrap.

Just a thought.

At least the weather’s nicer…

RSI and arthritis have conspired to turn me into a freaking cripple this weekend.

Same sort of stuff that had me going to hospital and confusing doctors eleven years

ago, only now I am older, wiser and have better painkillers ;-)

Mmmm… Michael Phelps

Ponderfication: Post uni

12 Aug 2004

Towards the end of my university career I became very disillusioned with the gay scene, such as it was, and often contemplated quitting it for good after I left… But on Tuesday I went out to a couple of bars and a club with a few peeps, and I loved it. It was cheepies and hilarious, camp and fabulous with it, not a sneer in the building. Ok there was a fight at one point, but hey, that in itself is quite refreshing…So I've decided I'm not quite past it yet, which is nice, but what is more of an eye-opener to me is that my uncles, who are double my age, aren't either.

Do I use commas too much? ;-)

Oh, and I love Edinburgh in the festival. Love love love. Celebrity count high. Also The Ladyboys of Bangkok did a rendition of Beyonce's Crazy in Love which was really good, but I couldn't quite get over how thin they were. For a woman it would have been unhealthy, for a man it's completely emaciated.

Listening to: Big Brother types on the Radio!

Working on: Enthusing the apathetic.

Playing: Warcraft 3 Multiplayer.

Reading: Anne Rice.

Finally finished

It's all done for the moment though the Comments system is dead, do not adjust your browser ;-) I particularly like the icony-logoy-title type thing for the bio page.

I'm off to London on the 20th for a few days if anyone cares, reads this and doesn't already know. The cross section of which is nil or close to it, but hey.

We went to a wholesale place yesterday and spent 200 quid getting a stupid amount of stuff for a stupidly low price including a huge tray of yum-yums and another one of danish pastries :) I also saw what must have been the biggest box of kettle chips on the planet. Also, Ikea on a week day is hell on Earth. It might always be hell on earth, to be fair.

My gay uncle and his partner are staying here for a week on holiday, it's such a shame the weather has turned shit. They have assured me that all (most of) the designers for Zara are gay, which surprises me not a jot, but does endear the company to me somewhat.

…I'm growing to hate this mouse, I'd replace it but given how many viruses this computer probably has I'm not convinced the problem is hardware. I can't click-drag-unclick to select stuff? WTF?…

Just finished reading the Body Thief, By Anne Rice. It's 4th in the Vampire Chronicles, the first of which was Interview With the Vampire. Maybe it's just what little goth there is in me coming out, but I really love them :-) Need to go find Memmoch the Devil soon. It rocks being able to borrow books from my dads bookshop.

Too long on the shelf.
