Ok, so, the other day I was chatting to a few friends on messenger.
At the same time I was putting together a couple of graphic mock-ups for my upcoming online CV thingy and FTPing them to my webspace to show people for feedback.
I was also FTPing music back and forth from one of the friends and playing them in iTunes routed through my music sytem with da base-of-stupid.
As well as all this I was burning to CD every episode of ThunderCats ever, to make room for the simultaneous bit-torrenting in of the World of Warcraft European client, in anticipation of open beta. Which I just checked at work, and signed up for! Wooo!!!
/me does the "I'm gonna be in Beta" dance".
Pretty much standard fare… for an UBER GEEK. *sigh*
In other news, this site sucks. Must do better.
I have nothing interesting to say.
No really. Move along. Nothing to see here.
I finally saw Pi this weekend, after literally years of meaning to. Very arty film. Similarly to the excellent Hero I'm not sure whether the artiness accentuates the plot or the other way around. Definitely enjoyable, though I imagine it might be a lot more so if stoned :-)
We have a new router! Hopefully this means my housemates and I can use messenger without having to ask that everything be repeated seven times. Celebrations all round.
Depending on how lucky I am with the central and circle lines, my trip to work each morning takes between 25 and 65 minutes. Which sucks. I'm tired of being early for work and not even being able to get into the office. Must remember to take my camera tomorrow for something to do.
Speaking of photos, I've been weak and signed up with flickr. Link along to see a few as-yet-unseen pics from Christmas and the New Year's, mostly involving horses.
Speaking of signing up like a big cloned sheep, audioscrobbler is another one. Go and music-stalk me, you know you want to. I'm not sure if it shows statistically but I'm loving Metric, Sugarcult and Violent Femmes at the moment.
Speaking of music, an iPod-type device has definitely gone to the top of my wanted gadgets list, pipping a video card at the post. I seem to spend most of my day singing to myself, either aloud or in my head. It sounds a lot better in my head. I can't get the percussion right IRL ;-) Is there actually any point shelling out the extra quid for an actual iPod though? Frankly, being the bit-of-a-twat that I am, the fact everybody else and their per monkey Bobo has one is /no/ incentive.
Matt's site was looking /amazing/ this afternoon, but he's put it back to how it was now. Probably waiting for some grand unveiling or something. I definitely feel a redesign coming on here. Gotta try and restrain myself.
…Why did you just read that?
Blogging about blogging.
Woot! I'm at work. Way better than my last job here, which is good because there's no way on earth I could have stuck out that last one for two-odd months :)
As I'm in the enforced free time of my lunch hour, overpriced snackage having been duly consumed, I thought I'd blog. Because, let's face it, we only blog when we're bored. Despite having thought to myself that I should blog about xyz easily a dozen times in the past week, this is the first time my fingers have even brushed the keyboard. I don't have oodles of free time on my hands that I don't know what to do with, I don't really have anything much to procrastinate, I'm not that bothered that my friends might not know the randomness that was last weekend, and I have no great declarations weighing on my mind. There's not messenger here though, so like I said; I'm bored.
Looking at the barfly website it seems Snow White are playing a club night, not a gig. Crap crap crap. Probably won't make it then. Dammit. Sorry about misrepresenting it to everyone. On the other hand, as far as I know gig tickets get you into the club night also, and the bands playing the gig part look interesting. Still, last time I was there it didn't look like my kind of place.
I hate the circle line. Hate hate hate. Circlelineevilburnburnburnburndeath. As it were.
I've been sorting my MP3s and ripping quite a few of my CDs onto iTunes. I love iTunes. Love love love. *huggles tuney goodness*
Sexual issues revisited. Ha! /me points and laughs. Have panic attacks about nomenclature is you like, just don't expect me to wring my hands in compassion, I think the whole issue is ridiculous, _especially_ among those who have already gone through it all before.
Blog is now spamproof! More or less.
University: Why I don't (overall) miss it. I'll try and blog about this properly some time. /makes note
I also need to redesign this site. But it's fairly low on my list.
New Years Resolutions (click me)
Back to the Grind
Holidays over! It's been a strange one. Went home for Christmas for only a week, instead of the usual month, where Christmas was cancelled - only not really. At the end of the day the only difference was a lack of Christmas decorations.
For new years eve, I had decided a while ago to not go to what had become the traditional several-day-long house-party-type-thing in a cottage in the back of beyond, with a bunch of school peeps that I have known for about a decade, because as really excellent as my times there have always been, who I am to and around most of my school friends is no longer who I am generally, and over the past few years the gap has only been widening.
So instead, due to a happy last-minute invitation, I went to a several-day-long house-party-type-thing in a London satellite town out in the sticks, with a bunch of people I had almost entirely never met before. It was good. Party, people and general situation == random and cool. Started the year playing on swings in a council estate in the dark. Also there was much JD and Coke involved. And a marathon session of Articulate, where - despite everyone's admirable perseverance ? the answer steadfastly refused to be "Tsunami!"
In other news, I've found my phone.
All the best for 2005 everyone!
