So spring has sprung. Everybody's been blogging about it. My nightmare commute on Saturday involving both the tube lines I needed being down was more than mollified by the glorious sunshine and the idea that there's a lot more of it to come in the months ahead.
So summer's around the corner, and you know what that means! Summer Blockbusters! Watching the trailers before Constantine the other day there's a lot to look forward to. Christian Bale doing the origins of Batman in Batman Begins (shoot the people that came up with that btw) looks like it might be hearkening back to its gothic roots, which would be very cool. Kingdom of Heaven is clearly the next in the line of ancient war films such as King Arthur/Alexander/Troy, except this one is about the Crusades, and Orlando doesn't look such a spoiled prissy wuss. Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy should be brilliant; Martin Freeman and Sam Rockwell are perfect as Dent and Beeblebrox, and the voices of Alan Rickman and Stephen Fry for Marvin and the book even better, though have to admit I do go "Huh?" slightly at Mos Def playing Ford Prefect.
The Ring 2 looked way too scary to watch, xXx2 looked astoundingly bad, which only leaves Starwars. Which looked, of course, absolutely amazing. Everything goes tits-up for the Jedi in spectacular fashion, and I really *really* want to see it happen. Just please no Jar-Jar this time?
As for Constantine itself, the humour and subject matter was pitched just right for me, and I loved it. True, Keanu isn't going to win any Oscars for it, but if you're suspending your disbelief for all the angelic and demonic shenanigans in it then I think you can probably stretch it a little further to encompass the fact that the comic-book demon hunter might just possibly be a little emotionally constipated

If I could have a super power (or an X-Power, depending on your affiliation), it would definitely be teleportation. But not crappy line-of-sight teleportation either, I'm talking about is-there-anything-fun-going-on-in-Barcelona-tonight teleportation. *bamfing* to work and back every day adding hours to my day that I would spend visiting people who live all over the place or sitting on a mountain in the Canaries :-) I'd miss traveling eventually - I do love traveling - but, you know? I think I'd get over it.
However I'd have to have some kind of sidekick power that was purely destructive, to bring hellfire and death down upon the utter bastards who park at the side of the road (not in a parking space, oh no!) on busy London trunk roads in rush hour because they're too bloody lazy to walk an extra 10 meters. Uber Selfish, damn lazy and just illogical. When it's jammed like that when they slow down one person they slow down everybody. Bloody blinkered bastards.
Comments still not working. Don't expect that to change any time soon :-)

So, it seems I'm not blogging as much as I used to. There are a few reasons for this, such as most of my computer time is devoted to World of Warcraft, and the commute to and from work every day gives me plenty of time to conduct the monologues to myself that would otherwise make it onto here.
So two weekends ago was an epic night out at Warwick Uni with most of the old crew where everyone had stories to tell the next morning involving fights, thongs, losing people and many UDIs. Somewhere in the night I broke my camera, and it's costing about 90 quid to fix. I suspect a rip-off. Hmm. Pictures are around.
The weekend after that I was at Surrey Uni where they had their Union elections results night + a beach party + Joe Scully at the union. I'm not sure how these things intersect, and the music was atrocious, but refreshingly so, and again there was much alcohol as well as many cool new people, so who cares? *dances*
Last night involved Soho and few people I don't know but had heard of, and could be as well identified by their URLs as by their names, which is just weird. T?was a really good night with very tasty food and astoundingly tasty cocktails, so wehay! And now, I'm in Edinburgh after an early start, just in time for my mothers 50th Birthday party! Certainly the largest party I've ever seen them host. It will be interesting to see how my old teachers and wrinklies in general hold up to the alcohol… Interesting in general I think. Must drink something quick, not sure I can do this sober :-)
Loads more to say, no time to say it.
