Code Redux

18 Apr 2005

Up to version 0.9 now, same address. The Pride pages need to be untangled from the Evil WYSIWYG "format" and few through the CSS, the text itself needs to be edited some, and then the downloadable CV should probably be PDFd. So it's pretty much done.

So have a look! Lots to see! My favorite page at the moment is this one, and my least favorite is this one.

I got a few "Ooh isn't that pretty!"s and "I'll have a proper look later"s from people last time but little of substance :)

Missed my cup of coffee this morning so I'm scoffing Tangfastic Haribo at work to compensate. Mmmm… 60% Sugar. Should probably go get some proper lunch… Bah.

Here's my CV site ver. 0.8, have a look. I'd ask for comments but the comments don't bastarding work, because certain people couldn't keep their spam under control… Anyways, you know my email :-)

I've already spotted a mistake; an h2 that should be an h1 on the experience page, damnit. Any others you spot, or if you just want to hurl general abuse at the code, design, layout, content or implementation please drop me a line; I've got a long weekend coming up to finish the whole thing off.

Labour 4
Conservative -19
Liberal Democrat 32
UK Independence Party -17
Green 9

You should vote: Liberal Democrat

The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

Never Never Land

11 Apr 2005

My long ago father once told me that he had very long ago vowed to himself (I'm paraphrasing, obviously) that no matter how bad things got he would never commit suicide. That he had seen fully and too many times how much it screws up those left behind, how it can destroy lives and families. For very similar reasons, I vowed, at some indeterminable point over the past few years, never to become an alcoholic. Almost ironic really; he was drunk when he told me this.

Apropos of nothing: picnicy pics up on flickr.

[EDIT : added more songs]

I love XFM. Seriously, It's great. Shows like X-Posure, Flo-motion and Adam and Joe are just pure genius. I really need to start noting down the names and Bands of songs I like from there, as my old method of typing in a few lyrics into google doesn't work any more… It's just too fresh!

Some songs I love that I've managed to remember:

"Feel Good Inc." by Gorrillaz

"Black Line Ninjas" by Weapons of Mass Belief

"Never Lose Your Sense of Wonder" by Yeti

"Blue boy" by Vincent Vincent & The Villains

"The Rat" by Walkmen

And anything on Moshimoshi records probably :-)

Went to see a couple of bands in Indie-Land the other day. Venue and people oh-so-pretty and drinks oh-so-pricey, as expected. "Revere" involved a silly number of people all crammed onto a tiny stage experiencing varying degrees of sonic orgasm. They were quite good too. "They don't sleep" were on too but they hadn't quite got the concept of a counter melody yet, and also they mostly sucked. I find that any live band are good for the first two songs though really… it's all about short sets.

My ears are still ringing from the overly-loud music on At Buttoned Down Disco on Saturday night, which concerns me somewhat. Does that mean my ears are more sensitive than most, or more delicate or both? Either way I should probably invest in some clubbing earplugs. It was a really excellent night out anyhoo, in honour of M's Birthday. The photos I took have been ruthlessly whittled down from 70ish to 20ish are and have been put here. If you're signed in you'll be able to see more of them.
